DH.82 Tiger Moth British Camo 1400mm (55") Wingspan - ARF from Nexa - NXA1003-001
The de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth is a 1930s British biplane designed by Geoffrey de Havilland and built by the de Havilland Aircraft Company. It was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and many other operators as a primary trainer aircraft. In addition to the type's principal use for training, World War II saw RAF Tiger Moths operating in other capacities, including maritime surveillance and defensive anti-invasion preparations; some aircraft were even outfitted to function as armed light bombers.
The Nexa DH.82 Tiger Moth is a .46 size electric or gas option scale series warbird with a 1400mm wingspan, constructed primarily from balsa wood and covered with a fuel-resistant covering. This ARF requires assembly and installation of your choice of servos and power system, and includes four piece wing with aluminum wing joiners, wing cabane, bracing and struts, painted pilot, pre-hinged and installed control surfaces. The large battery hatch affords ample room for either electric or gas setups. An absolute classic at any airfield. Note: No spinner is included.

The model is noticeably darker which was a little disappointing. Other than that, the model went together pretty well. Did also have a little issue with the dowel rods in the wings lining up with the holes in the fuselage. Not a big deal. Can't wait till Spring to fly it.

( just read ahead a few steps to better understand). I ran the ngh 17cc 2-stroke and I did have to modify the firewall so the exhaust clears. Overall the maiden flight was flawless followed by 4 more flights. I highly recommend this plan gas, nitro, or electric it’s a plane that anyone will fall in love with.

As with most ARFs, the instructions are just a guideline with this one, so it helps to have assembled an ARF before this one. It assembled easily and was satisfying to build. I used a heavy 5000mah battery and located my tailfeather servos forward of where the manual specified to get proper CG without adding weights. Added a Motionsic BAG and DJI FPV system. Waiting for nicer weather to maiden.

Keep that in mind when ordering the aircraft.

I hung a 750W electron burner on the nose. Chose a 4s pack for an easier CG set up. The hardware in this ARF is killer, hex head bolts with quick connects for the servo arms, nice touch. I didn’t have any issues building this, in fact I thought it was a better quality ARF than the competition at HH. My only issue, albeit minor, were the wing anti torque dowels. The upper wing holes were jigged crooked, (not perpendicular) to the inboard wing rib. These MUST be correct or your wings can have a wonky twist in em. Other than that, with my chosen pack and a 900kv motor, my CG came out perfect. Not a bad little weekend flyer…..
