B222 Airwolf 500 Size Helicopter Scale Conversion Kit from Roban - RBN-KFHAW5
This is 500 class conversion kit of the B222 Airwolf helicopter from the popular 80's TV series. Designed to take your Chaos 500 or Trex torque tube versions and transform it into a scale RC version of the twin-turboshaft civilian helicopter. This kit includes the scale body with mechanical retracts (one servo is required but not included to operate all three retracts). CNC Aluminum landing gear is also included as is a side weapon set, tail fins, "wings", and mounting accessories.
When you open the box, the fuselage is completely painted in standard automotive base coat and clear coat for a super gloss finish. A removable canopy and nose section allows easy access to the battery and mechanics, and is factory installed with magnets and locating pins. This fuselage can be installed in as little as 4-6 hrs and is intended for the intermediate to advanced builder. No modifications needed when using compatible mechanics.

Optional:
Roban Scale Helicopters are intended for modelers who have advanced level building skills. Both ARF and KIT product formats require you to install your own electronics (ESC, servos, motor, etc). KIT product formats also require you to install your own helicopter mechanics. Because helicopter mechanics can vary greatly in size and shape, you may be required to modify the fuselage slightly (including cutting, drilling, etc.) to achieve a perfect fit. Roban fuselages are all handmade from fiberglass and therefore may have slight variation in tolerances between body panels, doors, or windows. These variations do not affect flight performance and can be easily adjusted by an experienced builder with proper tools. These precautions are intended for novice builders; an experienced modeler should have no issue achieving perfect results with these premiere scale helicopters kits.

The wheels and axles are really good but the collars you adjust and set with a grub screw are terrible. They are plastic and the metal grub screw strips the plastic easily. I even had one where the hole for the grub screw was too big and could not be tightened. They should be metal. I had to preset everything and then use CA so they won’t move.

Airwolf 500
Finish is very good. Fiberglass is thin in a few spots. The hardware is garbage. The landing gear mechanics are terrible. Don't bother with the manual it's worthless.

I installed the mechanics of a BLADE 500 3D, which is not made for this but with a little modification and patience, I still managed to insert it. I was able to do some test flights and it works well even if it has the shakes at the beginning until the rotor has taken its full speed because of the bottom which is too soft. I'll see what I can do to solidify the bottom to prevent it from shaking again. But once it is up to speed, everything is fine, it is stable and well controlled. Flybarred, belt drive the classic trex 500. Let me tell ya, this airwolf kit was'nt easy. Instructions let ya kind of guess what you needed to do with drawings to accompany it. I've built many a heli. From trex 250 to Nitro 600,700. Even things in between like mini titan and devil 330 flybarless. You have to know heli mechanics for things like this. This kit could of been so much easier with adequate instructions. Some mentioned that the retracts to get working where a pain. They were!!! Get the main and one of the two (not all three) working together, then the third one should match up easier. Not easily, easier. Belt drive. I dare to say if you have a torque tube version, it will make life a lot easier. Figured to use a little tie to hold the belt in place while installing mechanics into body. Had to pull the whole thing out because belt fell off and or belt was the wrong way. To align the wholes looked up white light on my phone, expanded the picture and placed under the wholes to align them both. So much easier, and worked great. The kit is beautiful. Semi scale but so what. It's beautifully painted professionally. And surprisingly the added weight didn't make it feel that much heavier. The thing is a 3d heli made for it's weight to be thrown around. Try mechanics before you install.
