Can the transmitter be set for mode 1 and mode 2, or are these different transmitters?

Assuming the fellow customer refers to stick modes (rather than 3d/6g mode) then the answer is that as far as I know the specific transmitter only works on mode 2. At least there is no “soft” option offered on the screen to convert stick modes

You need to bear in mind that this radio does NOT have the same capabilities as the one that comes along with the XK A800 (the rc glider). In fact this radio does NOT support dual rates capability. Also the top sided buttons are NOT at all operational! The switch between 6G/3D has only audio feedback and is done by pressing the right stick. The radio transmitter of the XK A800 is far more advanced (my preferred one) than this one. Last but not least you cannot bind the XK Beaver's (A600) receiver board with the radio (SKU: WLT-A800-010) provided with the XK A800 (the rc glider). In my case I got this radio and successfully binded it with a XK DHC-2 Beaver A600. The XK A600 vs the A800 models seem to use separate radios/receiver boards. Very different and most likely use a slightly different comms protocol as well. So keep that in mind before purchasing the FTR version of the XK DHC-2 Beaver A600 (SKU: WLT-A600B).
